S.TEMPO

S.TEMPO

The S.TEMPO project is directly contributing to one of the new priorities in the sector of school education: “Promoting interest and excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and the STEAM approach, through supporting primary education teachers in delivering quality STEAM activities in their classrooms. The first group to benefit from our work will be primary teachers from Bulgaria, Serbia, and Slovenia, and pupils in their first years of primary education (age group 7-10).

In the long-term perspective, the S.TEMPO methodology and S.TEMPO activities to be developed by piloting teachers through their digitalisation on the popular platform for educational materials (IZZI) will be accessible for teachers beyond partner countries. Our contribution for the primary education level will ensure that pupils are immersed in the philosophy of STEM/STEAM from an early age and they will develop effective habits for working in experimental, interdisciplinary, and project-based learning situations. Building basic STEM/STEAM competences will support their further advancing into STEM in the next stages of their education.

Our Goals are:

  • Comprehensive and academically validated STEAM/STEM activities design methodology
  • 45 primary teachers (15 per country) trained in using the methodology
  • 45 STEAM/STEM activities developed
  • 45 pilots of developed STEAM/STEM activities in real classroom environment

With S.TEMPO we want to create a mechanism for developing STEM/STEAM activities which is standardised and with strong validation from the leading pedagogical academic institutions in our countries. This methodology will provide clear step-by-step instructions for teachers on how to approach their most pressing task of designing STEM/STEAM activities in alignment with national legislative frameworks with regard to curriculum. Furthermore, we would like to create the S.TEMPO network of teachers, trained in using the methodology, who would continue the work of its multiplication and mainstreaming and will provide peer-to-peer support for primary teachers in our countries, wishing to use it.

S.TEMPO News

– APRIL 2024 –

The beginning of the S.TEMPO primary teacher network in Bulgaria, Slovenia and Serbia

We are proud to announce that in April 2024. We also made our first steps towards the creation of the first ever international network of S.TEMPO teachers from the initial stage from Bulgaria, Slovenia and Serbia, which is among the main objectives of the project. Its foundations were laid in the period 19 – 21 April in Belgrade, Serbia, when over 50 teachers had the opportunity to participate in special training for the establishment of STEM/STEAM activities for the initial stage, based on the innovative methodology developed for the project. The university professors presented to the audience the algorithm they created, aiming to give teachers specific guidelines and a formula through which they independently create STEM/STEAM activities and apply them with their students. Again under their leadership were held the activities in groups, in which teachers from different nationalities had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas.
